Fashion is an art that reflects life. Every now and again we hear the names of Valentino, Paco Rabanne, Lanvin, Versace etc. There designers have a great impact upon our hair styles, the way we wear things, the way we put on makeup and even behave. Gurus of fashion determine our choice of clothing every season.
There are several very significant events in the fashion calendar known as fashion weeks. Fashion weeks are organized every season for fashion designers to present their latest collections in runway shows and for buyers to view the latest fashions. Most importantly, they display the fashion industry what is in fashion and what is out of fashion for the season. The largest fashion weeks are organized in the fashion capitals, including Milan, London, New York and Paris where luxury clothes (also called haute couture) are displayed.
Haute Couture is a French phrase for expensive and fashionable clothes intended for ladies. Couture stands for dressmaking, sewing, or needlework and haute stands for sophisticated. Haute couture clothes are made for a specific client from high-quality, expensive fabrics and sewn by hand normally using time-consuming techniques. This is why, couture clothes are luxurious and chic.
Dependent on the haute couture and the garment, the cost of a couture item ranges from $10, 000 for a blouse to $40, 000 and commonly beyond that figure. The price includes payments for the service, work, an exclusive design and premium-class materials of the highest quality.
Moreover, every customer will receive a garment to fit them well. It takes around 100-150 hours to make a handmade suit and up to 1000 hours for an adorned evening dress with thousands of beads sewn by hand. A fashion house like Chanel, for instance, will have around 150 regular customers buying couture clothes, and a couture house like Dior will make around twenty couture wedding gowns yearly
Haute couture houses use only luxurious materials, including expensive silks, fine wools, cashmeres, cottons, linens, leather, suede and furs.
Apart from clothes, renowned couture houses make chic luxurious accessories, such as hats, buttons, belts, gems, footwear, handbags. Those who can afford luxury clothes, pay for exclusivity and the privacy guaranteed by the system.
