MOSCOW is the city to be visited. It is one of the ancient and most beautiful cities in the world. Moscow boasts a long and interesting history. The city has been completely destroyed and rebuilt again a lot of times throughout the centuries. Each time the city was resurrected from the ruins, it grew detailed and additional beautiful. For every rebuilding, the most talented and renowned architects were invited from all over the world to restore Moscow. Hence, Moscow places of interest are truly worth exploring. Now Moscow is the city where the past and the present exist side by side in reciprocal tolerance and respect. Close to ancient churches and cathedrals, there tower above ultramodern business centers and skyscrapers. But, originally, Moscow is the very center of the Russian history.
Red Square is the most famous city square in Moscow and, arguably, one of the best-known in the world. It separates the Kremlin, which used to be the royal citadel and is nowadays the official residence of Russia's President, from a historic trading area called Kitai-gorod. Because the principal streets of Moscow run from here in every direction, Red Square is typically considered the central square of Moscow and of the Russian Federation.
Resurrection Gate is the only existing gate of the Kitai-gorod in Moscow. It joins the north-western end of Red Square with Manege Square and gives its name to Voskresenskaya Square (differently called Resurrection Square) located nearby. In front of the chapel there is a bronze plaque marking kilometer zero of the Russian highway system.
Moscow parks are also popular among holiday-makers. Alexander Garden is one of Moscow's first public parks. There are 3 separate gardens located along the western Kremlin wall.
The State Historical Museum of Russia is a museum of the Russian history located between Red Square and Manege Square. There are displays of remnants of the prehistoric people inhabiting present-day Russia as well as extremely valuable masterpieces of art acquired by the Romanov family. The number of works of art in the collection displayed in the museum numbers in millions.
