A horse is one of the great and intelligent animals that are often involved in shows and sports competitions. Horses are capable of learning so many things and not just how to give someone a ride. Horses can do even what human beings do; kiss, jump, dance, prance, smile, and paw. And being a great show animal as it is, a horse is also taught how to bow. How to train a horse to bow is really easy. This is one of the very basic tricks taught and most of the young kids who already own horses, teach the bow trick to their pets.
When a horse bows, he normally plunges or lowers his head down to the ground. Now to do this you must realize that how to train a horse to bow will need him to follow such direction not with a command but with an object. So give him something familiar to smell like food or his brush. Bring it near his face, especially his nose and his mouth, and then allow him to savor it for a split second. Then you bring it downwards slowly making sure he follows it. Right when he is in bow position praise him and give him a treat. Lead him up again and give him something. Bring it down and this time use the cue word ‘bow’. Say it together with him when his head is down on the ground. Then you give him a treat once more. Do it again and again and then try just giving the bow command without any objects drawn towards the ground. If he does it then give him food or pet him once more. Horses need to know and feel that they did something good. Do the trick a few times everyday until the horse becomes learned.
Now that you know how to train a horse to bow, your horse is ready to perform.
