For any serious player, hockey off-season training is of the utmost importance.
There isn't a single guy playing in the NHL or any other elite league that didn't dedicate themselves to training during the summers.
Here are the top 3 tips made for use outside the season, to be the most dominant during the season.

1) Don't play ice hockey.
It's important to keep active and play sports, as this is a good way to keep fit, and supplement gym workouts. But a lot of people, even at the highest levels, burn out when they play hockey all year.
Taking the summers off will give your body a chance to recoup from a long season, and will leave you dying to play by the time fall comes around.
Integrate other sports like baseball or football into your summer fitness routine.

2) Fitness first, skills second.
The off-season is provided to you to achieve your fitness goals.
Your focus during the summer will be hitting the gym and doing dry-land training to get you as strong, as fast and as powerful as you can for the upcoming season.
3) Core, Core, Core.
Don't just pump your arms and chest because they look good at the beach, workout your whole core as well.
Simply doing your normal exercises on an exercise ball instead of a bench is a great way to focus on your core while doing the rest of your routine.
The legs and your heart are two very important muscle groups of hockey, but they are often ignored.
Don't make that mistake!

Following these three tips over the summer will have you coming back to the ice in fall stronger and better than you left it in the spring. For the best results, get a good hockey training manual.
