Most parts of Dusseldorf destroyed in WW2 and now it promotes modernism. Dusseldorf is the capital of Northrhine-Westphalia, which is known to be quite multicultural. Dusseldorf is very famous for its shopping and fashion. Dusseldorf is the city which is voted at the city with the best quality of life in Germany.
When visiting Dusseldorf one should not miss the "Old Town", which is very famous for its bars also recognized as the "longest bar in the world" with 260 pubs in a line. Altstadt in German, besides bars you also find sights famous for art and culture. The Sankt Lambertus Basilika church is also located in Altsadt, which has a winding tower. In Altstadt, a square by the name of Burgplatz is situated which was a castle for Count of Berg completely destroyed in 1888. Burgplatz is near to river Rhine, now a tower from the castle is only left.
Dusseldorf has a new landmark which is the "Media Harbor". Media harbor is a creation of famous architects like Claude Vasconi, David Chipperfield and Frank O. Gehry, the uniqueness of Media Harbour is that these architects were provided empty spaces. Media Harbor is a combination of an old Harbor with new buildings. Media Harbor hosts 700 companies, which is 76% of all the companies. "Rhine Promenade" is one of most famous esplanade in Germany, it connects the Media Harbor. It is full of cafes and bars, where you can hang out. In Rhine Promenade was a main highway for cars but now an underground pass has made for the traffic.
"Rheinturm" is a tower which also has a restaurant which rotates around its own axis. Rhineturm also hosts an observation deck at a height of 557 feet, the total height is 789 feet making it the tallest building in Dusseldorf. Basically it was intended to used as a telecommunications tower. "Lichtzeitpegel" is another attraction in Rhineturm, It is the biggest digital clock in the world. Rhineturm is open to general audiences from 10.00 hours to 23.30 hours,
The unique thing about Dusseldorf is that it's "airport" is also open for tourists. One go to the two viewer galleries and watch the planes take off and land in.
"Nork Park" is a park in Dusseldorf and the most famous in Germany. Nord Park has everything a great park can offer from sculptures to beautiful trees, playgrounds to a Japanese garden. It post WW2 times it was controlled by the british, slowly and gradually it was returned to the city until 1985.
Other than these stunning places one also visit the Kaiserwerth, Benrath Palace and Park, and Koenigsallee.
