Anyone who buys a local daily newspaper can see the size of the classified section gets smaller and smaller with each printing. Why is this? It’s because traditional print classifies ads are not as affective as they were at one time. And as fewer people place ads in the classified section of the daily paper the helpfulness of the print ad diminishes even more.

With online free classified ads the opposite has happened. People can search the internet and find what they are looking for quicker. In addition the ease of devices used to search swells daily. Smart phones are everywhere. Comparison shopping is done right in a department store. People are smarter than ever and use smart devices to help them make informed, money saving choices.

It is more difficult to respond to a print classified. Normally there is only a phone number in the print ad. The person making the call may have to leave a number for a call back. The person who has placed the ad may get unwanted calls at all times of night and day. If an email address is included in the print ad it would need to be manually entered into a computer or smart phone. This could lead to mistakes in the address.

With free classified ads an email can be sent directly from the free classified site. If a call needs to be made their still will be a wait time for a callback, but the ease is still there. And multiple inquiries can be made on multiple online classified ads quickly and easily.

Another big difference between the two is price. Very few print publications can offer free print classifieds. There is always a cost. With online free classifieds there is no cost. The ad can typically stay up much longer and is also much easier to edit or delete. One of the biggest advantages is images can be inserted into the online ads. Normally at no additional cost. Print ads normally do not give this option. If they do the cost is high.

One other advantage of free classified ads is the amount of area in which the product can be described. A print classified ad is normally limited to a sentence or two. Many online free classified ad sites allow several hundred words of descriptive text.

One last advantage of free classified ads is to the online business owner. A lot of free classified ad sites offer clickable links to the business owner’s website. These links can be placed right in the classified. The links provide instant access to additional product information. Information that may not be available in the free classified.

An even greater advantage to an online business owner is they could be getting a backlink to their website. Backlinks will increase the search engine rankings of the website. Which in turn will make the website appear higher in the search results, which will get the business owner more clicks, and therefore sell even more products.

Keep in mind that not all links are equal. Some links are of the “nofollow” variety and will not be counted by a search engine as a good backlink. To find out if a link is nofollow read the article “Blog Commenting for Backlinks? Better check Nofollow!” http://mlmmaverick.com/blog-commenting-for-backlinks-better-check-nofollow/ That article give several easy ways to check on the quality of the link. Even if the link is a nofollow it is still of value. A prospective customer can still click on it and go to the website.

When pacing a free classified ad remember to keep the ad simple, make it well written and include all important details, and place pictures in the ad. Placing an image in the free classified ad is one of the most important things that can be done. It will literally make the difference between having the ad looked at or not.
