One of the biggest obstacles for any charity organization is finding a continual source of good volunteers. The problem is consistency. Volunteers are able to work when they want to work. And because of this a charity may find itself short staffed. This of course puts a lot of pressure on remaining volunteers and on paid staff. This could lead to loss of additional volunteers and so on. The solution is to find a consistent source of volunteer help. A way this can be done without spending a dime is by placing free classified ads.

The advantages of free classified ads are numerous. From a charities point of view a free classified is priceless. A way of advertising without payment and a way of getting the exposure your charity needs and requires with minimal effort. They are a way of attracting an endless stream of volunteer labor, again at no cost. And finally free classifieds are a possible source of contribution money, with a minimal amount of effort.

Some of the different types of volunteer positions that a free classified ad can help fill:
• Homeless shelters. Jobs could include setting up temporary bedding, cleaning, and handing out food and beverages, office and paperwork help, and general all purpose help.
• Food banks and pantries. There are differences between food banks and food pantries but the purpose of both is the same. Helping the hungry get a meal. A food bank is generally a storehouse for food. They distribute the food to various organizations such as soup kitchens and food pantries. Food banks generally deal with the public on the donation end only and rely on the food pantries to provide the food directly to the needy.
• Hospitals.
• Church Groups. The amount of volunteer work that church groups provide is phenomenal. The amount of volunteers that church groups needs is also massive.
• Animal Shelters. Dealing with abandoned pets is a volunteer position that can be very difficult and also very rewarding.
• Local amateur sports teams. Volunteers for children’s and young adult sports are the only way that children can learn and play in sports.
• Literacy volunteers. These special volunteers help provide adult literacy programs. Multi lingual volunteers are much sought after.
• Highway trash. Keeping America beautiful is another way that our medians and right of ways are kept clean.
• Reading with children. Helping children learn the joy of learning and reading.

Free Classified ad placement can help recruit all kinds of good volunteers for any charity organization. There are several things that should be done when placing a free classified ad.
• What hours and dates volunteers are needed?
• The type of work that is needed. Is the work physically demanding? Is it an inside position? What exactly is required of a volunteer?
• Are the volunteers needed on a continual basis, or is this a seasonal need only?
• Where will the volunteers work, in one location or multiple locations? Is travel required?
• Is any special training needed or is training provided by your organization?
• What type of paperwork must a volunteer provide? Is a background check required?

In addition to the above information it is important that an image of some type be placed in the free classified ad. Images in ads have a much higher click thru rate than classifieds without an image. The length of time an ad is posted is also important. If you’re looking for a steady stream of volunteers year round place your free classified ad in site that offers a lengthy listing time. Use classified ad sites that offer at least a ninety day listing.
