As a parent it is your job to take care of your kids, you nurture them, feed, house and clothe them, all with the intent of protecting them throughout their young lives. The day that they finally pass their driver's test can be the hardest day of your life, as they are finally able to flee the nest and enter the most dangerous place in the world, the public highways. As much as you would like to keep this from happening the time is going to come to every parent.
Does this mean that we stop caring about them or worrying about where they might be? Absolutely not, if anything it only serves to make us worry even more. Now the child you have nurtured for the last 16 or 17 years is free to come and go as they please and even more importantly they are free to do so in an automobile that weighs several thousand pounds and can go at speeds of up to and in many cases over 100 miles per hour.
If this is not enough to scare you as a parent then no one knows what is. While you can't spend your life sitting in the passenger's seat of when your child is at the wheel, you still want to know where they are going in the family car or even their own car, if they are lucky enough to have enough money to own one. You have to remember that in most states you are still responsible for your teenager until they turn 18, this means it is your job to know where they are and what they are doing at all times.
Most of us like to think that we can trust our kids to behave, but there is something about being behind the wheel of a car that can turn even the most reliable and well behaved teenager into a race car driver. If you are not aware of what they are doing, your child could be drag racing from one red light to the next or flying down the highway at just below the speed of sound. The question is "What is a parent supposed to do when we can't be there in the car with them every minute of the day?"
Until now all you could do was have faith in your child and hope that they can manage to maintain at least some level of control over their behavior behind the wheel. Today you can finally have a little edge on the situation. With the little black box from GetiSight you can see where your teen is with the car 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and the best part is that unless you tell them, they are going to have no idea that you are watching their every move.
Our little black box is a tiny transmitter that plugs directly into the OBD II diagnostic connector that is tucked neatly out of sigh under every vehicle made in the last 15-20 years. Ostensibly this connector is designed to provide a host of information to the technician who is working on your car. Our black box uses the connector for power and speed information. This information, along with an exact location vectored in by GPS satellites is transmitted to a receive that belongs to us.
From this information we can generate a map of the area your car is in, pinpoint its exact location to within a few feet and tell you exactly how fast it is going. In fact you can follow the car on your own computer with live feed. You can also pull up a history of where the car has been over the last 24 hours or more depending on how you have your profile set up.
You can set the software up to notify you if your teen exceeds the speed limit or goes beyond the boundaries you have established. You can get these notifications via email or SMS Text so that even when you are on the go, you can still be able to keep an eye on your teens as they drive around the town.
The little black box from GetiSight is easy to install, inexpensive to operate and absolutely priceless when it comes to providing your teen with that last little bit of tender loving care before they are finally old enough to be out on their own. Even then as parents we never stop worrying about our kids, it is all part of the job.
