If you are starting up a business or expanding your present enterprise, then you will need a new phone system. However, this begs the question of how to choose the right phone system for your business or enterprise. You most certainly want the best quality, yet you don't want to toss money out the window.
So just how might you approach this dilemma?
First of all, assign monetary value to both your staff and the equipment you seek to put into your office or enterprise or in short set yourself a budget. You will need to know how many lines will you need and of what sort? Who makes more calls and who makes fewer? Will you need credit card terminals or fax machines? Communicate directly with your office buying department about within what price range they must make purchases.
Also, instruct whoever does your buying for you to shop around and look into several different companies, no less than four or five before they make the decision on what to purchase. Besides comparing and contrasting what you are getting for your money, you should also see if you can find referrals from other business colleagues to help you learn who has a solid reputation.
You will likely need VoIP. Voice-over-Internet Protocol enables businesses that are always using the Internet and today that's the vast majority of them, to simply place telephone calls directly over their Internet connection. There is no special telephone needed; the system runs straight through a regular telephone. VoIP enables a single extension system, so remotely positioned offices can easily and cheaply talk to each other. VoIP is the least expensive telephone system and if you buy a quality company's services there is no compromise on quality.
When you do buy your telephone system, think about the future, where do you expect your company to be in five years? Upgrading is inevitable in the long run, but it is so inconvenient and expensive that you need to justify it by planning for the future when you make a purchase today.
You might not even need to actually purchase it, if you are uncertain of how you will be progressing or expanding over the next decade, you can rent your telephone system. This can be an ideal short-term solution in terms of cost, servicing and future upgrading convenience.
If you do end up buying your system outright, look for special end-of-quarter deals. Providers often try to move overstock during these times when businesses are taking stock of their finances and providing the new phone system to your employees at this time can be a psychological strategy to get them excited about the coming quarter.
*Please remember though to be sure that all current office equipment related to communications is compatible with whatever new phone system you have put in.
If you look around carefully, you will find that you don't ever have to compromise quality to get cost-efficiency in your telecommunications system. Telephone systems for businesses are such hot commodities today that you can be confident in finding providers who just want to get your business by giving you the best product and service there is.
