In its endeavour towards providing world class treatment facilities at your doorstep and that too at affordable prices Fortis group, the largest chain of hospitals in India has joined hands with Dr. Vivek Vij to start a world class Liver transplant programme initially to be started at its Noida Hospital Branch. Dr. Vivek Vij has been a prominent figure in Liver transplant in India since the time of its inception and has played a key role in standardizing the donor surgery in the country. He has previously worked at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital and Indraprastha Apollo Hospital and has prominent role in developing liver transplant at these centres. He had pioneered the concept of Small Incision Donor Hepatectomy, as a step towards Cosmetic Donor Hepatectomy among the living donors apart from introducing key steps in donor surgery like phreno-caval dissociation and bougie guided duct division towards his quest for safe donor Hepatectomy. Dr. Vivek Vij has joined in as Project Director and Chief Transplant Surgeon, Liver transplant Programme with Fortis Group of Hospitals, Delhi & NCR and will be establishing a world class Liver transplant centre at Fortis Group of Hospitals starting from Fortis Hospital Noida. Apart from Liver transplant his team (which comprises of experienced surgeons, transplant anesthesists & liver care intensivists, transplant heptologists and gasteroenterologists, well-trained technical and nursing staff) will be providing facilities for surgical gasteroenterology (including hepato-biliary and pancreatic surgery), liver critical care and minimal access & advanced laparoscopic surgery.
This association is being seen as development of much awaited centre of excellence for Surgical Gasteroenterology and Liver transplant at Fortis group of Hospital. This development will be seen as part of ambitious project of Development of Centre for Advanced Surgery (CASR) by Dr. Vivek Vij which promises to provide the much needed latest and most advanced care in the field Surgical gasteroenterology including Hepato-biliary and Pancreatic surgery. At CASR there will be facilities for treatment of all sorts of liver, biliary and pancreatic diseases, liver critical care (with development of first of its kind liver critical care ICU), upper and lower gastroentero-intestinal surgery, non operative treatment of liver, biliary and pancreatic diseases like TACE, therapshere, TIPSS, PTBD, ERCP, etc., and minimal access and advanced laparoscopic surgery.
