Nowadays problem of water leakage is very much common in most of the houses. Due to this there is a big loss of water as well as money. Some broader steps must be taken to avoid such issues. Proper water leak detection should be done so as to fix it accurately.

How to Find Water Leak in House?

Here are some tips and techniques which can help one to find leaks with efficiency. When you recognize some leak in your surroundings, then your prime work is to repair that fault as soon as possible. So, in a case like this you should follow these rules:

Check the Leak Indicator

The source of fresh water to your house is from the pipeline provided by the local government. Also a small area is constructed on it for the water meter. The meter is probably somewhere between community valve and the ground level tank. In harsh winters one can find some water leakage somewhere around the meter or the community valve. The reason of this leakage is due to the ice formation and sometimes because of the frozen pipes. The first step in detecting a leak is checking the leak indicator which is on the water meter of triangular disk size. If there is a leak, this triangular disk starts spinning.

Check for Plumbing Problems

Now for your house, draw a plumbing diagram and follow the lines which starts from its origin at the roof tank and ends till its outlet like, flush, tap, etc. If any pipe has a leak, the walls surrounding the pipe will become moist and damp. You can check the joints and links of the pipes by taking help of torch, as maximum times the faults are because of joints only.

Food Color Experiment

Next step is to check all the valves that are present in your house. The best thing to check this is food color. To explain it in more detail manner, we can take example of a rubber valve which is fitted in the toilet reservoir. To find leak in firstly you must have to flush the toilet and drain off the entire reservoir. Then you have to add some food color to the reservoir and wait for some time. If the color of water changes after adding the food color then you must need to replace your valve. The same procedure can also be applied to the main roof tank to detect any fault over there.
