Adults are allowed to decorate their rooms with stylish modern materials, images and so on: why not kids? That’s the basic idea behind some pretty funky designs coming out of a variety of furniture and “living” manufacturers, these days, who have all started promoting what can only be described as kids versions of DIY and home improvement kits. That’s always been a bit of an issue, before – a person can decorate an entire house in wonderful, up to the moment designs: but try finding that kind of stuff for baby’s room? Not a chance. Forward thinking (and looking) interior design brand Ferm Living has developed an entire range of fresh, clean and aesthetically excellent solutions for the problem: baby wall decor, as it were, for the style conscious home.
Particularly appealing, in that they manage to retain that other worldly aspect common to most kids rooms, whilst still appealing to the style conscious mother and father, are Ferm Living’s “3 little owls” childrens wall stickers. Now – you could be forgiven for balking at the thought of stickers being applied to the wall of any room, particularly the child’s room, where the application of stickers can lead to a sort of Third World War being waged over the placement of garish, commercially merchandised stickers. Ferm Living’s solution, like all of their kids wall decor, is elegant and smooth. Stencil-esque, extremely stylised designs that brighten up the walls of a room without stopping it from being in keeping with the rest of the house.
Their kids room wallpaper are pretty awesome, too. Why imprison yourself with loud, OTT TV related wallpaper, when you could continue the stencil motif (simple designs, remember, complement just about anything) with wallpaper ranges that bring childishness in for the children, whilst retaining a sense of proper decoration for the adults?
Overall, though, one has to give the prize for best kids wall decor idea ever to those childrens wall stickers. Baby wall decor will never be the same again. A plain paint coat on the wall of the children’s room ensures that it stays in theme with the rest of the house – while those stickers add a motif all of the room’s own, delineating it as the children’s home area. With all sorts of funky designs to choose from – butterflies, a Ferris wheel, those three little owls, and a whole menagerie (from elephants to mice), the kids will love it and so will the parents.
